About Roses

Joni and John Trumbull opened Roses in 1991. The name is derived from the roses planted around the shop's original location. Bakery was included in the name as our original cafe menu relied heavily on sweet and savory goods from the bakery oven. A retail store was added in 1995, which allowed us to sell our baked goods as well as cheese, charcuterie, wines and pantry staples for the serious cook. In 2003, we moved into the remodeled original Eastsound fire station and brought everything under one roof.

From the beginning, the intent of Roses was to see nourishment from a more holistic standpoint, providing good, satisfying food and building a sense of community that values the relationships among staff, customers, farms and suppliers.
